I feel it should have a place, particularly in this day and age.

I don't know..

I've been in bands since I was 14. There were quite a few at my school and we were all fiercely competitive at that stage.

If anyone got a slightly better gig, or had a bigger turnout, or got a flashier guitar we all knew about it and would discuss plans to counter it with our next 'extravaganza' and get one up on them.

Thankfully we all turned out as unprofessional as each other and had to earn a living doing something else. But if one of those rival bands had even gone to have 1/100th the success of U2, it would have burned in me for years..

Re: Foo Fighters - Live at the home of Football
it'd make me feel a lot better knowing i'd toe to toe'd it with a band that went on to be massive.

at least the cunt got to write a book about it. I doubt a book about a rivalry with another band that also turned out to be shit wouldnt be quite as successful.

Have you read 'Killing Bono'?

I think that has to be the most painful example of that.

It was written by Neil McCormick who is now a music critic for the Daily Telegraph. When he was at school in Dublin, he desperately wanted to be a rock star but ultimately failed as most of us do. Just to make him feel REALLY bad though, his mates in the same school that he was in fierce competition with back then became U2.

How crap would that make you feel?

Yeah they're fantastic. My mate is Dev, the bald one with the huge beard. Think they're gonna go far - they've had a mental year in terms of festivals and stuff culminating with the foos, but they're getting kids of recognition across all the BBC radio channels and elsewhere. Their videos are cracking too - they're a very funny bunch

By coincidence his house mate at uni is in a band called moriarty, who've supported muse loads as well

It's nice having friends who make you feel utterly talentless!

The Boleyn was only ever used for football FACT

Apart from when it was used for boxing you are 100% correct.

Best of You is a great song. The rest are a bit boring. Much like our matches really, one good game in about 20. Seems like a good fit.
